New Items in My Store

With the change in the season and the improvement of my skills with my Knifty Knitter, I have put several new items in my store. I now have beanies, ear warmers, scarves and a motorcycle mask. I also have the cutest little girls hat complete with a flower on the side. I am in the process of looking for a model for my various types of shawls and shrugs. Another new item is my Kemo Kap, of which one alf of all proceeds will go to help fight cancer.
For all of my knitted items, I use the softest yarns I can find, mostly Angel Hair. I list each item seperately but offer a 10% discount on combined order so feel free to mix and match.

Life Illustrations

This isn't SilkFair or Etsy realated, I just want to promote my cousin a little. She has a new web site and has started her own business. She does beautiful work so please check it out. Here is and invitation from her:

Hello everyone:As many of you already know I have been trying to get my own freelance business going for a while now. I started it off just doing jobs on the side for the past three years and decided it's time to take it to the next level. So with that, Aaron decided to get on board with me and we are running our first ad that came out this weekend. But with the ad coming out we needed a face lift on the website. Andy helped us out a tremendous amount and gave us a new look we could have not dreamed of.So with that said, please take a look at the site and let us know what you think.http://www. lifeillustrations. net.
Thanks,
Karine

Meema Magic!

I love to make gift baskets, candle arrangements and all kind of little craft items. All of my baskets, candle arrangements and diaper cakes are one of a kind (OOAK), you will never find one exactly like it. If you don't see one here, please message me, I will gladly do custom orders.Although the baskets, or whatever I am using to make your arrangement in, might be gently used, ALL items inside are brand new. Some items have been removed from their packaging to enhance the look of the "basket" but nothing is ever used. I will give each gift the same individual love and attention that it would get if I were to give the gift myself.I also have a few vintage items that I have found along the way and I am always on the look out for new!You can also find me at:

I have found a new place for my gift baskets.

So, I have finally, hopefully, found a new store for my gift baskets. I was looking around on the Etsy forums and found a post about a place called SilkFair. This is an on line shopping mall, similar to Etsy, but they are not strictly "handmade". Don't get me wrong, I am all for handmade, it's just that some of us are not as talented as others but still have a great product we would like to market. I have been making gift baskets for decades now and I personally feel that it is an art. A lot of people think that it is just a matter of throwing a bunch of store bought items in a basket and sticking a price tag on it. While some may do that, I am not one of those people. I am one of the people that walks thru the store picking up things and arranging them in my cart. I get ideas in the middle of the night and they drive me crazy until I can put them together and actually see them. I have a few baskets in the making right now that I haven't found "the right look" for, so they are still on the work table. I believe that everyone is entittled to their opinion and this is mine. If you like gift baskets, please take a look. If you don't, look around anyway, you might find something you like.

New item.....

So, since I had to remove my gift baskets, I have been at a loss as to what to make now. I just picked up a bunch of heart shaped wires and was trying to come up with something out of them. So far, this is what I have done:

Let me know what you think. You can see more at http://www.MeemaMagic.etsy.com. You can also see my baskets currently for sale at http://stores.ebay.com/MeemaMagic and see previously made items and backets available for creation at http://www.facebook.com/home.php. Have a GREAT Memorial day weekend and don't forget to support our troops!

Yes, one of them is mine and I purposely did not disclose the name of the other seller. I just don't understand why I had to remove mine but they are still allowed to sell theirs. Yes, I have written to the powers that be looking for an explanation but have never received a response. I do not have anything against the other seller and wish them all the luck in the world. I just do not think it is fair, we should all be treated equally.

TheTinyFig says:
Hey Everyone,I know we all have troubles keeping afloat in the promos section so I came up with a new idea on how to promote sales and special deals through my new blog Sweet Figments. http://sweetfigments.blogspot.comWhat's a sweet steal? A "sweet steal" is a list of specials deals and current sales that handmade sellers are offering to the readers of the Sweet Figments blog. This list is updated every week and posted on Fridays. If you think you might be interested in offering a "sweet steal" such as free shipping, freebies with purchase, discount on your first order, free gift wrapping, info on your current sale or anything else that is similar please check out the Sweet Figments Flickr group discussion for more information!http://www.flickr.com/groups/sweetfigments/discuss/72157605112366179/.

Sooo, here is the new purse!

I found all the info I could, here you go.

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=11857780

More on Charles F Berg

I looked on ebay and didn't find anything like this. I looked on the web for Charles F Berg and could only get info about his clothing store and the fact that he died in 1932.
I was wanting to know if anyone knew more about his clothing line or even Lewis. On the web there are tons of Lewis'.

I have found two article about the man himself and his building but nothing about his bags or clothes. Check out http://wweek.com/___ALL_OLD_HTML/dress022101.html and http://www.ohs.org/education/oregonhistory/historical_records/dspDocument.cfm?doc_ID=DB2AEBB7-F1F6-44F4-81EE011425DACFC1 (given to me by fellow Etsian daisidvintjunky).

Help me identify vintage purse

I desperately need help identifying a black purse. This is a cute little black purse, shaper kind of like a mailbox. There is a gold oval sticker tag says "Lewis" with a little crown above it. Below is a cloth tag that says "Charles F Berg, Portland, Oregon" with a rose beside it. I would appreciate any info I can get.

So.........

Well, I have a good news/bad news thing going on.!

GOOD news, I fianlly got a job and it was the one I really wanted at McMenamins Grand Lodge! Yeah me. I was so excited when she called today that I forgot all of the important questions. You know the ones, "How much will I get paid?", "How often will I get paid?", those ones. Anyway, so I go for onrientation on Thursday, can't wait.

BAD news, I had to take all of my Gift Baskets off of Etsy. I'm not going to go into all of the details because I still like the site, I just think they need to stick to the original rules.

Anyway, if you are interested in a Gift Basket, you can comment my blog and I will get in touch.

And by the way, did I say I GOT A JOB! Yeah!

Job Hunting update

So, yeah, it still sucks. I have gotten a couple of interviews though and a few more coming up. I swear, if something doesn't happen soon, I don't know what I will do.

I went to a "hiring call" today at a place called McMenamins Grand Lodge.

It was kind of interesting and sounded real promising. I actually had 2 interviews there, one right after the other. I am supposed to hear back by the end of the week.

I also had one at Red Robin, where my nephew just started working.

I should be hearing back from them this week for a second interview.

Meanwhile, I am still working on my Etsy shop, trying to get it going. I need to get some new things in there but can't do that until I get a job.

Everyone wish me luck.

Thursday, May 1, 2008

So, as most of you know, I moved from Arizona to Oregon about a month ago. We are currently renting a couple of rooms from a woman I found on craigslist and that is working out pretty good. Right now, I am busy job hunting and Tyler is taking GED classes. Unfortunately for me, he is doing better then I am. He just started yesterday and has to take pre-tests to determine where he is and what he knows. Well, he is scoring so high on the pre-tests that the instructor said he should only be in class for a week or two and then he will be ready to take the tests. I, on the other hand, am not having much luck in the job hunting department. I have had a couple of interviews but nothing has panned out yet. I do have a couple of interviews coming up this week tho, so keep your fingers crossed for me.

I miss my grandson, Draven

and his parents.

In the mean time, I am trying to supplement my income with the sale of crafts. Feel free to help out! LOL

Seriously, love and miss everyone. TTYL

Good News....I hope!

So, I have three different interviews coming up between now and Sunday, hoping one of them will realize what a great person they have in their presence and hire me. Seriously tho, I hope I get something soon, I am going crazy.

In the mean time, I came up with this great idea. I made a sign for my grandson when he was born and I totally LOVE it.

So, I got to thinking, maybe I could sell these, you know, as a custom order. So anyway, check out my shop for the details. Don't forget about the New Buyers discount.

Luv Ya,

MeemaMagic!

Job hunting sucks!

So, still job hunting. I feel like i have put out 1,000 resumes and applications but no bites yet. Everyone keeps telling me that the perfect job is out there just waiting for me to find it. I feel like it should be, the perfect employee is right here just waiting for someone to respond. I do have a couple of interviews this week, maybe I will get lucky.

I am still with Etsy but not having much luck there. I have sold a couple of items, but seem to be selling more from eBay the Etsy. I really wish it was the other way around. I have found a lot of things I like on Etsy though, you should really check it out. I have a blurb at the bottom of my page that shows my favorites and it is updated on a regular basis. Every time I see something I like, I mark it and then it shows up on my blog. Now, if only I was working so that I could afford to buy some of the things that I have found.

A Little Bit About Me!

So, like I said, I am new to this. I am just learning about blogging and how to use it. I am new to Oregon, new to Etsy and new to Blogging.

I just moved to Hillsboro, Oregon from Prescott Valley, Arizona the first of April. I am currently renting a couple of rooms from a woman I found on craigslist while looking for a place of our own. OUR consists of myself,

my 17 year old son, Tyler

and our 5 month old miniature Australian Shepherd, Hayli.

We are both currently looking for jobs and you know how much fun that can be.

When we moved to Oregon, we left several people behind. Among these were my son, TJ and his fiance, Bobbie and my grandson, Draven. We are trying desperately to convince them that they need to move here as well. Besides them, we also left behind other family members and all of our friends. My 17yr old swears he will never forgive me, but i think in the long run it will be a great new beginning for both of us.

In the mean time, I have started selling my crafts on Etsy.com. Etsy is wonderful! It is a website where you can buy handmade. I have been making gifts for family and friends for years and I have had several people tell me that I should sell them. I like to make candle arrangements, baby shower gifts, house warming gifts, etc. I have sold a couple of things, but not enough to be able to do it full time, like I would like.

Welcome to MeemaMagic!
